Mini Soccer

The season is scheduled to start the first week in May (weather permitting) and coincides with the school calendar, ending the last week of June. We do not reschedule for rainy days.

Parent involvement is encouraged. Dropping kids off and leaving is not permitted. Kids consider fun in a number of ways: playing with friends, trying new ideas, gaining more confidence/skill, and enjoying a positive experience. Many children learn best through games and repetition.

Coaches

Better coaching equates to more fun!  That’s what the game of Mini Soccer is all about … FUN and snacks of course!  Following the guidelines from the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) Dakota Mini Soccer implements the stage perspective to ensure our players have a great time. 

If you are interested in becoming a coach and attending a clinic please visit, Manitoba Soccer | Coaching  Note: You will be reimbursed for the clinic by Dakota Community Centre, please save your receipts and submit to the front office.

Group Levels

STAGE 1: ACTIVE START (Ages 4 & 5)
At this stage coaches and parents focus on more games versus scrimmage to allow the player more repetition and time with the ball.  The format encourages basic fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, landing, kicking, catching, and throwing in a fun setting built around informal play and positive reinforcement.

STAGE 2: FUNDAMENTALS  (Ages 6-8)
Allows children to develop their movement ABC's, agility, balance, coordination, and speed while learning the basics of the game. Emphasis remains on fun, cooperation, and maximum time on the ball. Coaches and parents together create a stimulating learning environment where the atmosphere is “Freedom and Fun.” Technical instruction is introduced through movement exercises and games that promote a feel for the ball.

Team Uniform and Equipment

Players are required to have the following equipment: Shin Guards; Shorts; Runners or Cleats (optional)

NO caps or jewelry are permitted on the field re:safety concerns.

Registration

This year we are providing the convenience of a ONLINE registration for Spring Mini Soccer. If you prefer to pay in person, you must still create an account online before coming into the Dakota main office. The office is open throughout the week from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

REGISTRATION DATES: March 1 - March 31

*late fees will apply as follows (no exceptions):

  • $25 for registrations received April 1 - April 7
  • ​​$50 for every week after April 7

Youth Soccer

Dakota CC has a successful and popular recreational youth soccer program and we hope that you will be a part of it this coming outdoor season!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Spring Registration for recreational outdoor soccer will be online at www.dakotacc.com  beginning March 1 until March 15.
     
  • Late registrations will be accepted on an availability basis only i.e. if we have an appropriate number of players for each team and any additions would make it unfair for the players who registered on time, your registration will not be accepted.
     
  • Fees for the outdoor season will be as follows:
    ​u9, u10: $225.00
    u11, u12: $265.00
    u13+: $275.00
     
  • All players must register at their home community club (Dakota CC) as outlined in the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) rules and regulations Article 2.5 regardless of where they played for the last Soccer Season.
     
  • ​Recreational play is anticipated to begin last week of April/1st week of May, 2017.  The dates for the season finale (for u9-u12) as well as playoff format and finals (for u13+) are yet to be determined.
     
  • Days of Play for Youth Soccer for the majority of the games (subtract year of birth from current year to determine your child’s division)  are as follows:  
U9 (2008)  Boys and Girls - Tuesday & Thursday
U10 (2007)  Boys and Girls - Monday & Wednesday
U11 (2006)  Boys and Girls - Tuesday & Thursday
U12 (2005)  Boys and Girls - Monday & Wednesday
U13 (2004)  Boys and Girls - Tuesday & Thursday
U14 (2003)  Boys and Girls - Monday & Wednesday
U15 (2002)  Boys and Girls - Tuesday & Thursday
U16 (2001)  Boys and Girls - Monday & Wednesday
U17 (2000)  Boys and Girls - Tuesday & Thursday
U18 (1999)  Boys and Girls - Monday & Wednesday
  • Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday may be kept as days re-scheduling postponed games.
     
  • Coaches and teams are expected to be established by April 2.  
     
  • Format for u9-u12 Long Term Player Development (LTPD) Program to be determined. Tentative format may be two games a week, a practice within a game and an additional practice at the coach’s discretion.
     
  • u13-u18: Two games per week, one practice per week; however, it is at the coaches’ discretion how and when to schedule practices.
     
  • Any team, coach, or friend request can be made at the time of registration.
     
  • We are always looking for energetic and dedicated volunteers to coach! If you are interested in volunteering to coach or be a team official (e.g. team manager), please indicate at the time of registration.
     
  • Please note: ALL team officials listed on an official team roster and wishing to be allowed into the technical/bench area must meet the screening requirements including wishing to sit on the bench must meet the screening requirements including Child Abuse Registry  cleared AND Criminal Record Check (i.e. Police Information Check) cleared. Additionally all team officials are required to complete the online Respect in Sport program (visit: www.sportmanitoba.ca). Once completed, a certificate number is provided online.
     
  • Dakota CC provides each player with a  game uniform and requires a $60.00 deposit cheque (to be handed to coach prior to jersey distribution) made payable to Dakota CC and post dated to October 30th, 2017, which is only cashed if the uniform is not returned at end of season. 
     
  • All players will need to have shin pads and outdoor soccer cleats.
     
  • Please note that all items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are strictly forbidden and must be removed prior to game. Using tape to cover jewellery is not acceptable. 
     
  • Over the summer there are several tournaments. It is up to the coach and the team to decide if they would like to enter and have the opportunity to participate in these events. The coach will advise accordingly.
     
  • Prior to the start of the season, each team’s COACH will notify players with all relevant team information including practice and game schedule.
