Dakota Community Centre Inc. is currently looking for a Director Operations to join our dynamic team. This is a new and unique opportunity for a hands on leader with the right combination of experience and enthusiasm, to bring together all aspects of the operations of a vibrant and busy sport and recreation complex.

With our Mission of being a gathering place providing excellence in sport and recreation for everyone, Dakota Community Centre is one of the largest and most successful regional sport & recreation complexes in the City of Winnipeg. Serving the communities of South St. Vital and surrounding areas for more than 30 years, Dakota CC offers a broad range of sport and recreation facilities and programs to serve the needs of the region and beyond. Dakota CC boasts more than 155,000 square feet of buildings and grounds, and includes the Jonathan Toews Sportsplex, which houses a twin ice pad, gymnasium, office & retail spaces, nursery school, weight room/training facility and other multipurpose areas, as well as the newly opened 60,000 sq. ft. Dakota Fieldhouse, offering a 30,000 sq ft multi-configuration, multi-sport hardwood court surface, 200 m. track & fitness level, health & wellness studio, and a link serving the recently opened Jumpstart Community Rink & Beach Volleyball Centre.


The Opportunity
Reporting to Dakota’s CEO and as key member of the Centre’s management team, the Director Operations plays a central role in directing and overseeing the effective operations and management of key aspects of Dakota’s facilities, its programs, its people, customers and services to ensure the overall success of the Centre. The Director plays a significant part in the planning and day-to-day operations of DCC, as well as the development, implementation and management of successful initiatives and events for the Centre. Responsibilities include budgeting, planning, organizing, and overseeing all aspects of operations/venue and customer management for the Centre and its activities and events, as well as the assessment of existing facilities, programs and operations with the view to continuous improvement and growth opportunities for the Centre. This role will be responsible for bringing together all aspects of the facilities operations with the goal of facility, program and service excellence for the Centre, its customers and community.


 Undergraduate degree or relevant degree/diplomas in areas related to the positon. A suitable combination of related education, training and experience may be accepted.
 A minimum of 5 years in a similar position directly responsible for operations/venue and program management and a proven track record of achieving objectives and revenue targets
 Demonstrated skill and strength in people management and leadership, with substantial knowledge and experience with business/financial principles and practices
 Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of community/customer relations and communications/marketing practices and principals
 Knowledge and working experience with Microsoft Office, data base programs and registration/membership management/facility management software

Facility Supervisor

Proposed Start Date: September 2019

Job Title: Facility Supervisor
Hours: Part time (15-20 hrs/week) during evenings, weekends and holidays
The Dakota Community Centre – Jonathan Toews Sportsplex, located in south St. Vital in Winnipeg, is looking to employ a number of enthusiastic and hard-working facility supervisors who thrive on client-first service and working with people of all ages and abilities.

The facility supervisor will assist in the day to day operation of the Fieldhouse and Sportsplex during evening and weekend hours when the facility is busy.
 Supervision of the facility during evenings and weekends
 Supervision and backup of the front desk staff in the fieldhouse
 Addressing client service requests and visitor inquiries during peak times.
 Liaising with groups/departments and resolving issues that may arise.
 Inspecting the facility to ensure DCC guidelines are followed and that safety/security is maintained.
 Must be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of employment and eligible to work in Canada
 Must be available to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
 Must be able to complete successful Criminal Record and Child Abuse checks
 Some lifting and physical work may be required.
