COVID-19 Safety Measures & Policies

Please ensure that you are familiar with all of the policies prior to arriving for your activities at Dakota Community Centre and Jonathan Toews Sportsplex. Any important information, such as procedural changes or outbreak notices will be posted here for your convenience and may also be shared on our social media and e-mail platforms.

IF YOU ARE SICK, STAY AT HOME!
If you are feeling ill, sick or have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days, please stay at home. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, contact Health Links (204.788.8200) immidiately.

CONTINUE TO WEAR MASKS INDOORS.

Masks must be worn at all times while in the facility with the following exceptions:

  • While engaged in physical activity
  • A child who is under five years of age
  • A person with a medical condition that is unrelated to COVID-19, including breathing or cognitive difficulties, or a disability, that prevents them from safely wearing a mask
  • A person who is unable to put on or remove a mask without the assistance of another person; >
  • A person who needs to temporarily remove their mask while in the indoor public place for the purpose of:
    • receiving a service that requires the removal of their mask
    • consuming food or drink
    • an emergency or medical purpose
    • establishing their identity
DISINFECT AND WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN.
Ensure that you wash your hands often, especially in-between physical activity. This is the best measure to help prevent spread of a virus.
USE PROVIDED HAND SANITIZER.
Disinfect your hands when you enter the facility and use hand sanitizer whenever you're able to. We will have hand sanitizer available at several stations around our facilities for your convenience. If you see a dispenser that's empty, please report it to a staff members so that it can be replaced.
MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCE.
Maintain physical distance from others and don't congregate in groups for too long. Avoid shaking hands or giving "high-fives".
Your safety is our primary concern.
To ensure this, we are taking additional precautions in addition to provincial health guidelines. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Immunization Screening

Based on the new restrictions put forth by the Province Of MB, the DCC will require proof of immunization for anyone age 18 and older to enter the facility. Children born after Dec. 31, 2009 who are not eligible to be immunized will be able to attend events and activities with a fully-immunized adult. These restrictions are subject to change based on COVID related numbers and further direction from the Province.

The following documents are considered valid proof of immunization in Manitoba:

  • Manitoba Immunization Card (either card or electronic)
  • National Defence Canada Covid-19 Vaccine Record / Card
  • Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) Travel Vaccination Record
  • An official document issued by a Canadian province or territory containing information of a person’s COVID-19 vaccination history

Exceptions for immunization screening:

  • Youth aged 17 or younger. Accompanying adult must be fully vaccinated.
  • Authenticated proof of exemption (i.e.) signed letter from physician

Prior to Arriving at the DCC visitors who are required to provide proof of immunization should do the following:

- Ensure they have a QR code and/or a physical copy of an accepted document (including MB Immunization Card) prior to coming to the DCC.

- Have a copy of a government ID such as a driver’s license.

DCC staff are not responsible or able to issue cards or codes to individuals who do not have proper proof of immunization. For more information on how to access your immunization card, visit www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/vaccine/immunizationrecord

Due to the new screening process, please expect short waits during peak times. Staff will endeavor to get people checked in as quickly as possible, your patience and understanding is appreciated. Please note the DCC has a zero tolerance harassment policy. Any belligerence towards staff will result in the offending person being asked to leave the facility.

Hours of Operation

Beginning Saturday, September 11th, DCC will be expanding hours of operation to:

Monday - Thursday: Open 6:00 a.m. (Track & Weight Room close at 10 p.m.)
Friday: Open 6:00 a.m. (Track & Weight Room close at 8 p.m.)
Saturday - Sunday: Open 7:45 a.m. (Track & Weight Room close at 8 p.m.)

Facility Access

Beginning Sept. 7, both the Sportsplex and Fieldhouse entrances will be open EXCEPT Mon. – Fri. 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. when there will entrance through the Fieldhouse only.

  • Players strongly encouraged to wear masks at all times
  • Pre-booking times no longer required
  • Maintain physical distance except while playing
 
Ice Rentals Modified Capacity
  • Limit two spectators per player; spectators must wear masks and maintain physical distance from those not from the same household
  • Organized games and tournaments permitted; teams that are not actively participating in games must leave the facility until their next game
