Group Fitness Classes

Our senior-focused group fitness classes are specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of older adults, offering a safe and supportive environment to stay active and healthy. Chair Yoga, Gentle Fit, Growing Stronger and Let’s Move Let’s Dance classes promote functional fitness, mobility and social interaction that can help increase a senior’s confidence to age at home.

Cardio Pulse

*NEW CLASS* Get your heart pumping with this energizing cardio workout designed to improve endurance, stamina, and overall cardiovascular health. This class combines a variety of low-to- moderate impact movements with simple, easy-to-follow routines that keep you moving and motivated. Participants can work at their own pace while enjoying a fun and supportive group environment. This class consists of interval training with low impact options for each exercise.Suitable for a range of fitness levels, this class is a great way to boost energy, improve heart health, and stay active.

Chair Cardio & Strength
A low-impact workout that combines cardiovascular exercises with gentle strength and flexibility training, all performed while seated in, or supported by, a chair. It’s ideal for active adults, people who have had hip or knee surgery, participants concerned about their balance or anyone that prefers a seated workout.
Chair Yoga
A form of yoga that adapts the poses to be done while sitting on a chair or using the chair for support. Ideal for people who have limited mobility, injuries, balance or joint issues.
Gentle Flow Yoga
A soothing practice that encourages relaxation and stress relief through gentle, flowing movements, deep breathing and often with longer held poses. Perfect for all levels, this class invites you to unwind and connect with your body in a peaceful, supportive environment.
Growing Stronger
Tailored to enhance vitality and functional fitness, focusing on gentle cardiovascular and strength-building exercises that improve balance, coordination and daily living activities. It’s a supportive and encouraging environment where active adults can progressively build their physical capabilities and confidence at their own pace.
Line Dance Level 1
This class introduces basic steps in short sequences of easy patterns and rhythms in the simplest way possible. There will be lots of repetition. If you have never line danced before or just started, this class is for you. Basic skills, easy choreography, easy dances. FUN for all!
(Beginner)
Line Dance Level 2
Some previous experience necessary. Dancers are expected to know basic steps. Dance and choreography are a little more difficult than our beginner class, and music may be faster with connecting steps. Dances may increase in length, complexity and tempo from Beginner dances.
(Beginner+)
Restorative Yin Yoga
Relax and unwind, candlelight included. An all-levels class designed to relieve stress and tension while stimulating deep muscle release and reflecting inward. Nourish body and mind with this transformative combination of restorative and yin yoga.
Restorative Yoga
Perfect for those seeking to reduce stress and restore balance, offering a nurturing environment to rejuvenate the body and spirit. Use of props to support poses, while gently stretching and strengthening your body.
Yin Yang Yoga
A blend of movement and static postures promoting flexibility and strength. The sequence builds heat energy to target connective tissues, joints and the nervous system and helps release tension in the body, promoting flexibility and strength.
Yoga Flow
Energize your body and mind with our invigorating Yoga Flow class, where movements seamlessly link breath into motion. This dynamic class is designed to improve strength, flexibility and balance offering a harmonious blend of challenge and serenity that’s perfect for all levels.
Minds in Motion

Ready to become a runner?Our Learn to Run program is designed for beginners with little or no previous running experience. Over 12 weeks, you’ll gradually build endurance through structured walk/run intervals while developing the skills and confidence needed to complete your first 5K.Along the way, you’ll learn proper running technique, injury-prevention strategies, stretching, and strength exercises to help you become a stronger, more capable runner.Whether your goal is to improve your fitness, lose weight, reduce stress, or accomplish something you’ve always wanted to do, this program will provide the guidance, support, and the encouragement you need to succeed.

Acting & Improv for Beginners

Acting & Improv for Beginners is a fun and supportive class designed for adults with little or no acting experience. Through interactive games, creative exercises, and simple scene work, you'll learn the fundamentals of acting, improvisation, character development, and stage presence in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. Along the way, you'll improve your communication skills, boost your confidence, think more creatively, and share plenty of laughs with fellow participants. Whether you're interested in community theatre, public speaking, or simply looking for a unique and enjoyable way to challenge yourself, this class is the perfect place to start. Join us on our 200 meter indoor track from October – April, and connect with this vibrant walking community on our city’s trails May – September.  Our walkers are guided by Dakota Community Centre Volunteers. October outdoor locations are listed because October weather can be unpredictable. If conditions permit, we'll continue enjoying the trails. If colder weather arrives, we'll move indoors and take advantage of our indoor track.
