Splash Zone Reopens! Renovated Waterplay Park Now Open at Dakota Community Centre

With summer in full swing, the Dakota Community Centre is thrilled to announce that the City of Winnipeg has completed its renovation project at the Dakota Waterplay Park.

Mayor of the City of Winnipeg, Scott Gillingham, alongside Markus Chambers, Councillor for St. Norbert—Seine River, Councillor Vivian Santos, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services, Mike Moyes, Minister of Environment and Climate Changes and MLA for Riel, and Michele Augert, President and CEO of the Dakota Community Centre, attended a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Dakota Community Centre on July 24 to officially celebrate the reopening.

“These improvements ensure that children of all ages and abilities can safely experience the joy of water play, while providing a refreshed community gathering place. Investments like this, through the City’s partnership with the Province of Manitoba, help strengthen neighborhood hubs like Dakota Community Centre for years to come,” said Santos.

Operated by the City of Winnipeg, the facility underwent renovations starting in April. Upgrades include removal of the waterslide due to accessibility concerns, and the addition of new water play features such as a Sneaky Soaker, Aqua Drop, and Parasol. The site’s pump, pool surround, and rubberized surfacing were also replaced.
