Group Fitness Classes

Our senior-focused group fitness classes are specifically designed to cater to the unique needs of older adults, offering a safe and supportive environment to stay active and healthy. Chair Yoga, Gentle Fit, Growing Stronger and Let’s Move Let’s Dance classes promote functional fitness, mobility and social interaction that can help increase a senior’s confidence to age at home.

Chair Cardio & Strength
NEW! A low-impact workout that combines cardiovascular exercises with gentle strength and flexibility training, all performed while seated in, or supported by, a chair. It’s ideal for active adults, people who have had hip or knee surgery, participants concerned about their balance or anyone that prefers a seated workout.
Chair Yoga
A form of yoga that adapts the poses to be done while sitting on a chair or using the chair for support. Ideal for people who have limited mobility, injuries, balance or joint issues.
Gentle Flow Yoga
A soothing practice that encourages relaxation and stress relief through gentle, flowing movements, deep breathing and often with longer held poses. Perfect for all levels, this class invites you to unwind and connect with your body in a peaceful, supportive environment.
Growing Stronger
Tailored to enhance vitality and functional fitness, focusing on gentle cardiovascular and strength-building exercises that improve balance, coordination and daily living activities. It’s a supportive and encouraging environment where active adults can progressively build their physical capabilities and confidence at their own pace.
Line Dance Level 1
NEW to our group fitness schedule! This class introduces basic steps in short sequences of easy patterns and rhythms in the simplest way possible. There will be lots of repetition. If you have never line danced before or just started, this class is for you. Basic skills, easy choreography, easy dances. FUN for all!
(Beginner)
Line Dance Level 2
NEW to our group fitness schedule! Some previous experience necessary. Dancers are expected to know basic steps. Dance and choreography are a little more difficult than our beginner class, and music may be faster with connecting steps. Dances may increase in length, complexity and tempo from Beginner dances. (Formerly Beginner)

Digital Literacy

Floor Curling

This is a modified version of curling that’s played indoors using rocks that have bearings that allow smooth delivery down the sheet. The players use push sticks to deliver their stones allowing people of all ability to play. Stay active, have fun and socialize. We provide the equipment and no experience is necessary.

Golf Swing Basics
October 30 - November 20, 2024

Snow Birds, get ready fore golf season! In this four-week series led by Barry Gibson, a PGA of Canada Golf Professional, you will learn the fundamentals of the golf swing including: correct setup, posture, proper sequence of motion, and error correction for common swing faults. It will also include easy to implement practice drills that you can do at home or at the range to improve your swing. This series, designed and delivered by Over50Golf, is geared to the mature adult golfer (although there are no age requirements to participate) and is appropriate for all skill levels. Help improve your ability to play better golf and enjoy your time out on the course this winter!

Painting

Through a multi-project approach, this class will help participants learn different acrylic painting techniques, colour theory and mixing, composition, image transfer, and much more! A great class for beginner or intermediate painters to develop the fundamental skills to create their own works of art. (Please note: a minimum number of registrants is required for this class to proceed.)

Tai Chi
September 12 - November 28, 2024

Explore and deepen your health and wellness through the gentle and restorative practices of Qigong and Taijiquan from the Yang Family lineage of Tai Chi. Each class will include a full-body warm-up to loosen the joint systems and relax, stretch and strengthen the muscles and tendons to facilitate the flow of vital Qi through the body. Emphasis will be placed on alignment to develop strong balance and posture.

Walking Group (Thursdays)

Join us on our 200 meter indoor track from October – April, and connect with this vibrant walking community on our city’s trails May – September.  Our walkers are guided by Active Aging in Manitoba’s trained leaders who will share tips on gait assessment, assistive devices and motivation.

Pre-registration is not required.
Look for our Volunteer Walking Leader who will be wearing a red vest.

September 19: Henteleff Park - Meeting in parking lot.

Cost: No cost during outdoor walks.
