Outdoor Mini Soccer

2024 Season Complete See You Next Year!
Season Runs From May - June

Learn through games, activities & repetition.

Kids consider fun in a number of ways: playing with others, trying new ideas, gaining more confidence/skill, and enjoying a positive experience. Dakota’s Outdoor Mini Soccer is organized for kids and parents with these experiences in mind.

Parent involvement is encouraged. Dropping your child off and leaving is not permitted.

Ages 2 & 3 (preschool) - Once Per Week

At this age coaches and parents focus on introducing the game of soccer and allow the player repetition and time with the ball. The format encourages basic fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, landing, kicking, catching, and throwing in a fun setting built around informal play and positive reinforcement.

Ages 4 & 5 (preschool) - Once Per Week

At this age coaches and parents focus more on fun soccer-related games rather than pure scrimmage to allow the player more repetition and time with the ball. The format encourages basic fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, landing, kicking, catching, and throwing in a fun setting built around informal play and positive reinforcement.

Ages 5 to 8 (school age) - Twice Per Week

At this age children are provided with opportunity to develop their movement ABCs, (agility, balance, coordination) and speed while learning the basics of the game. Emphasis remains on fun, cooperation, and maximum time with the ball. Coaches and parents together create a stimulating learning environment where the atmosphere is intended to be fun and team-oriented. Technical instruction is introduced through movement activities and fun games that promote a feel for the ball. Scrimmages are introduced to help children develop their understanding of the game and their ability to engage in cooperative play.

Specific schedules for each team with exact times will be shared with all coaches once complete. The information below summarizes the nights of the week and locations for each age group.

Registration for Outdoor Mini Soccer opens in February and closes March 31st.

Our deadline is set to allow scheduling, communication, volunteer coach identification and training, jersey and equipment acquisition and distribution, etc. Late registrations will not be accepted.

Mini soccer is an open opportunity for anyone who would like to participate. In order to accommodate this, we do not set team limits which means we cannot guarantee that your child will be at a specific date or time. In addition to this, our fields are subject to approval by the City of Winnipeg which are subject to change between registration and season start.

The banner under the page title will be updated by 4PM on day of the game in the event of a cancellation. Games may be cancelled due to poor weather conditions (lightning/thunder, heat/humidity, air quality, heavy rain). Check weather before leaving as changes can occur after 4pm!
