** Update April 17, 2020 per Softball Manitoba **

To all Softball Manitoba Members,

On behalf of Softball Manitoba and our Board of Directors, I would like to update our membership on the steps Softball Manitoba will be taking.

Softball Manitoba will be suspending all sanctioned activities until May 31, 2020.

We will be re-evaluating as the City, Provincial and National regulations and health orders change. In our meetings with Softball Canada and our partner Provincial/Territorial Softball Organizations across the country we recognize the uniqueness of one another and that we may not all have the same suspension deadlines going forward. It continues to be our position that we keep any suspension deadlines as short as possible to be able to react as quickly as we can to the ever-changing environment, we are in.

Our Board and staff are getting many questions regarding our programs and services. Therefore, the following is a series of questions and answers we hope is helpful to our members.

Will there be a Softball Season in 2020?
We remain optimistic that there will be a softball season this year. We recognize that there may be many changes regarding local league schedules but are confident that we can all adapt even if it means that our season does not start until June or July. The new softball season may not be for everyone, but we believe it is important to be able to provide programs and services for those that are ready to take part. Registration deadline dates will be pushed back if necessary.

Will 2020 Provincial Championships be held?
At this time, we have not cancelled any of our 2020 Provincial Championships. Again, we will adjust Provincial Champio6nship Entry Deadlines if required. Should it be necessary we will make efforts to move Championships into August. In addition, if this is not a reality, we are also making alternate plans to hold some types of competitions later this summer/fall. The structure and format of these competitions will be determined and published once we know if we can proceed.
