We're excited to open up our doors again and offer wellness activities. Please read this document for more information about membership, new guidelines and more!


ACTIVE LIVING - CARDS

Keep your mind sharp, have fun, and satisfy your need for a little friendly competition by joining us for some Cribbage, Whist, or other card games. We serve hot coffee each week so drop in and try your hand at some cards.

ACTIVITIES

There are lots of activities to participate in. Try out as many as you'd like with your Active Living for Older Adults membership. To participate in these activities, you will need to buy a 10-session pass for $40.

$15 Membership (Paid yearly to remain active): Is effective from September 1, 2020 - August 31, 2021.
This membership is for seniors (55+) that goes to fund senior program administrative costs.

Line Dancing

Join in for a morning of fun and dance! Learn the steps and take part in our annual June Bug event!

Line Dancing Program Information

Absolute Beginner Line Dancing (Wednesday)

This class introduces basic steps in short sequences of easy patterns and rhythms in the simplest way possible.  There will be lots of repetition.  If you have never line danced before, just started last year, or feel you need more time on the basics, this class is for you.  Basic skills, easy choreography, easy dances.  FUN FOR ALL.  Participants dance to any music with a good beat.

Dates: September 23 - May 12, 2021
*No class September 30th, November 11th,December 23rd and December 30th, 2020

Beginner Line Dancing (Wednesday)

This class will offer more dances, more choreography, more variety than ABSOLUTE BEGINNER.  There will be a wide range of music.  Faster tempos and more steps encourage you to think and respond quickly.  This is a step up from ABSOLUTE BEGINNER as it offers a wide spectrum of dances.  It is expected that dancers will know all the basic line dance steps.

*No class September 30th, November 11th,December 23rd and December 30th, 2020

Floor Curling

Floor curling is fun and beneficial. It helps promote flexibility, increased range of motion, and circulation.
Forget heavy rocks and slippery ice - this game is played in the gymnasium and the equipment is light-weight and easy to handle.

Floor Shuffle

Floor Shuffle is a game in which players use cues to push weighted discs, sending them gliding down a narrow court, with the attempt of having them stop within a targeted scoring area. Floor Shuffle is a great activity for all mobility types and is a great team activity. We are always looking for new players to join so feel free to drop in or give us a call.

We offer easy-to-access fitness classes to live your best life. 

 

Aerobic Chair Yoga

This class incorporates yoga poses, breathing excercises, and restorative movements while gently raising and lowering the heart rate through interval yoga excerices and yoga poses. While the class activities will be both seated and standing, take note that the chair will be used more as a prop when needed rather than the focus of the class. This class is open to older adults who are looking for more of a workout that focuses on strength and endurance building over time.

A perfect mix of Ballet, Modern Dance and Fitness. A full body workout that improves your posture, flexibility and strengthening without bulging muscles. Great music included; no TUTU required! Bare feet, sticky socks or dance shoes suggested.

Growing Stronger

Growing Stronger is a strength and balance class that will help your regain muscle and keep it strong. This program is ideal for those wishing to improve their strength, cardio and balance. Strong muscles, bones and better balance will help make your more mobile and less likely to fall.

Let's Move! Let's Dance! [NEW]

A fusion of Latin and international music and rhythms such as Cha cha cha, Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Disco etc. Great way to burn calories, improve coordination and balance. Please bring dance or indoor shoes or runners with smooth soles.

Minds in Motion

Minds in Motion® is a two-hour weekly fitness and social program for people living with early to moderate symptoms of dementia to enjoy with a family member or friend. Participants engage in gentle exercises followed by fun activities that stimulate your brain. COVID-19 protocols are in place as your safety is our top priority.

PACE (People with Arthritis Can Excercise) [NEW]

A program developed by the Arthritis Society for people with different types of Arthritis or related conditions, such as Fibromyalgia or restricted mobility. Gentle movements to improve balance, strength and flexibility to help you move easier in daily activities. Please bring a 6-7 foot stretchy band and soft squeezable little balls.

Tai Chi

Explore and deepen your health and wellness through the gentle and restorative practices of qigong and taijiquan from the Yang family lineage of tai chi. Each class will include a full-body warm-up to loosen the joint systems and relax, stretch and strengthen the muscles and tendons to faciliate the flow of vital qi through the body. Emphasis will be placed on alignment to develop strong balance and posture.

Facts & Snacks

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, snacks/lunch will not be served during these sessions. We do however encourage you to bring your own snacks or lunch to enjoy during the presentation.

Join us for Facts and Snacks session and learn about Meditation. Participants will learn how to relax their bodies and minds with guided meditation and easy Yoga poses.
